Editor: Hello! First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us. Auditorium seating production is a crucial field, both in terms of design and comfort. Could you tell us a bit about Seatorium’s background and how you got into this industry?
Adnan Aslan: Hello! It’s a pleasure to be here and to talk about our work. Seatorium started in 2005 as a small workshop. In the beginning, we focused on general furniture production, but we soon noticed the growing demand for auditorium and theater seating. It’s a highly specific market and requires a unique set of skills. We decided to specialize in this area, and now we export our seating to more than 57 countries.
Editor: That’s truly impressive! Auditorium seating production is an area where aesthetics and comfort must come together. Can you explain how the design process of an auditorium seat works? What factors shape this process?
Adnan Aslan: The design process is comprehensive and requires great attention to detail. The first step is always understanding the client’s needs. We need to know what kind of venue the seats are for and the types of events that will take place there. The seats for a theater are very different from those in a conference hall. Comfort, durability, acoustic performance, and aesthetics are the key factors. For instance, in theaters, the fabric of the seats needs to contribute to the room’s acoustics. At the same time, the seats must remain comfortable, even after long hours of sitting.
Editor: You mentioned acoustic performance. Do auditorium seats really affect sound quality? How do you address this in your designs?
Adnan Aslan: Yes, auditorium seating can greatly affect acoustics. The distribution of sound in the venue is directly influenced by the shape, fabric, and padding of the seats. Hard, flat surfaces can reflect sound, negatively impacting acoustic performance. That’s why we use sound-absorbing materials in our seats. Additionally, the back and underside of the seats can be designed to either absorb or reflect sound, depending on the needs of the space. We work closely with acoustic engineers on every project, testing our designs and selecting the best materials to ensure optimal performance.
Editor: Technology has transformed almost every industry, including furniture and seating production. How does technology play a role in your processes?
Adnan Aslan: Absolutely, technology has brought a revolution to our sector as well. Firstly, during the design phase, we use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create highly precise and detailed models. This allows us to give the client a clear picture of the final product before production begins. In production, we use CNC machines for highly accurate cutting, which reduces errors and speeds up the process. In some projects, we even use automated assembly and quality control systems, which saves time and ensures consistency.
Editor: These advancements are fascinating. How about sustainability? What steps does Seatorium take to be environmentally conscious in its production processes?
Adnan Aslan: Sustainability is a key focus for us. In recent years, we’ve made significant strides in this area. We use recyclable materials wherever possible in our production. Additionally, we’ve made efforts to reduce our energy consumption by incorporating renewable energy sources like solar power. We ensure that the wood materials we use come from certified, sustainable forests. We also aim to minimize waste during production. Our goal is to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and maintain an environmentally friendly production approach.
Editor: That’s a very commendable approach. Looking to the future, what innovations do you expect to see in the auditorium seating industry? And what are Seatorium’s plans for the coming years?
Adnan Aslan: I think we’ll see more integration of technology into seat designs in the future. For example, smart seats are becoming a topic of interest. These seats could adjust for personal comfort or provide data to venue owners on usage patterns. There will also be a greater focus on ergonomics. As for Seatorium, we aim to offer more personalized solutions to our clients while leveraging technology even more. We’re also working on automating more of our production processes and further advancing our sustainability goals.
Editor: Finally, I’d like to ask what inspires you the most in this industry. What keeps you motivated in this line of work?
Adnan Aslan: Our biggest source of motivation is contributing to people’s comfort and enjoyment during their experiences in auditoriums, theaters, or conference halls. People often spend hours sitting at these events, and it’s important that they feel comfortable throughout. Knowing that each seat we produce enhances that experience in some way is incredibly rewarding. There’s also an artistic side to our work that keeps us inspired. With every project, we strive for both aesthetic and technical perfection.
Editor: Thank you so much for sharing these valuable insights with us. We wish you continued success in your work!
Adnan Aslan: Thank you! It was a pleasure to discuss these topics with you.
